ABOUT ME
My "Why"
Moonshadow Dog Photography is named after my newest rescued greyhound, Moonshadow, who overcame severe abuse and injury as a puppy in rural KwaZulu Natal. Surrendered at five months old because "he couldn't run", he had multiple broken bones and severe rickets due to malnutrition. He has endured months of healing and his rehabilitation is ongoing. Sadly, he is considered a special needs dog and will most likely never be able to run with abandon alongside his now big brother Dodi and little JR sister Willow. Tragically, his mother didn’t survive the difficult circumstances they faced but Moonshadow is slowly recovering. His resilience now inspires every image I capture, as a tribute to sighthounds who have moved from the dark of suffering into the light of hope and second chances.
As a photographer, I’ve always been drawn to beautiful early-morning light, subdued colours, and interesting compositions - tools I use to reveal the soul of each animal I photograph. With a deep bond and sensitivity to animals, I focus on their eyes and expressions to capture the quiet strength, emotion, and individuality they hold. My goal is to create fine art portraits that honour each animal’s story, blending visual beauty with heartfelt connection. Every image is a reflection of that journey—of survival, grace, and the power of being truly seen.

Official photographer for Sighthound Rescue SA
At Moonshadow Dog Photography, I believe in giving back to the incredible organizations that dedicate their time and resources to rescuing and rehabilitating sighthounds in need. My own Moonshadow was rescued and rehabilitated by Sighthound Rescue SA, which is why I feel so strongly about supporting their vital work. That’s why I donate a portion of select packages to support rescue organisations like Sighthound Rescue SA. These organizations rely solely on sponsorships and donations to operate, and they work tirelessly behind the scenes to rescue, rehabilitate, and find loving homes for sighthounds.
The team at Sighthound Rescue SA, their volunteers and similar organisations witness some of the most shocking cases of abuse and neglect - often enduring trauma themselves without recognition for the emotional toll it takes. I am deeply grateful for the vital work that they do.
Every photo session you book with me contributes not only to capturing the beauty and resilience of sighthounds but also to providing a brighter future for those still waiting for their chance at a new life. Your support helps make a real difference in the lives of these magnificent dogs.
